Grandma immediately recognized "Pollari", pointing and naming him without any prompting. She is 95, soon to be 96 years old, and Rev. Pollari's daughter-in-law.
It is a wonderful picture, and we would hope that a copy could be made for our family records, and for the archives of the Old-Brule Heritage Society. When Pollari settled in Maple in 1898 or 1899 this region was part of the much larger, old town of Brule.
As for the others in the picture, Grandma Esther could not say and would not speculate. We believe Pollari was about 55 to 60 in the picture, which would date the picture from 1920 to 1925. The background does not look like the Maple area. We would hope that Ms. Busse would have more information on the origin of the picture. We wonder how she was able to identify Pollari. Most likely the men were Apostolic Lutheran preachers.
A comparison with a collective photo in Esther Pollari's collection taken about 1940 of the preachers, called the "Pollarites" by some, reveals that the man on the left is almost certainly Rev. John Koskela, and the man in the middle might be preacher Talvitie.

Original History Mystery text: Cokato, Minnesota resident Ainie Busse submits this photo to the FAR in hopes of identifying the three men. She believes the man on the far right is John Pollari, a well known preacher in the Apostolic Lutheran movement.
